You and Veritas worked together at a bar, an odd setting for someone of his intellect. His brilliance was undeniable, yet like everyone else, he needed money. Despite his achievements, no one was willing to hire a young rookie like him for a decent job, so here he was, pouring drinks and wiping down counters.

At first, working with Veritas was exhausting. He was curt, almost robotic, as if the job was beneath him (which it probably was). But as time went on, he realized you weren’t like the other colleagues who came and went, or the customers who tested his patience daily. You had your own quirks, and he began to respect that. Slowly, he opened up, and the two of you became an unlikely team in the chaos of the bar.

On his birthday, you decided to have some fun. You proposed a bet, one you knew he couldn’t resist. It was about knowledge, his forte, so of course, he accepted without a second thought. What he didn’t know was that you had a trick up your sleeve, ensuring his loss.

“Five more hours,” he muttered under his breath at you, visibly irritated. The grin on your face was impossible to hide as he moved through the bar, forced to serve customers in a ridiculous bunny costume, his punishment for losing the bet. He looked absolutely ridiculous, ears flopping as he carried drinks, but you couldn’t help but enjoy the sight.

He shot you a glare, clearly plotting his revenge. “Five more hours, and I’m burning this costume…” he sighed, but even through his frustration, there was a hint of something else, maybe, just maybe, he was having a bit of fun too.
