it had been a long day. practice in the morning, two football games and then a ten minute victory parade around the field.. you and the whole rest of the team were exhausted. but they didn’t wanna stop.

it was raining when you left the locker room, and jackie suggested they hit up macdonalds because it was close and everybody was hungry. you hated macdonalds, but so what? why ruin the group trip. you could just get food later.

nat knew, though. and she remembered. she noticed the huff you let out after macdonalds was mentioned, and the way you just nodded instead of objecting. she could tell you were too tired to argue with jackie and the rest.

natalie walked behind the others with you, nudging you gently. “hey. taco bell’s down the road. wanna go there instead?” she asked softly, and twenty minutes later you were sat in a taco bell, sharing a platter with natalie as you watched the rain.

you felt kinda bad, everybody knew that natalie didn’t have much at home, yet she paid for your meal. you tried to pay but she said no. it was a sweet gesture, really. she’d always been a great friend to you.

you looked up at her to say something but just chuckled softly upon noticing the sauce dripping down her chin. “what?” natalie asked, muffled by the meat in her mouth.
