You had lost all hope. Stranded on a lonely, winding road with tall grass and scattered trees, you felt disoriented. Your phone was in your pocket, but it had no signal, so your attempts to call 911 were pointless.

It had probably been hours since you started walking, your legs weary from the journey. You wore faded jeans and a thin T-shirt that provided little warmth against the chilly breeze. Dark clouds loomed overhead, threatening to unleash rain at any moment. Great, just great, you thought to yourself, feeling the weight of uncertainty settle in.

Just then, like a miracle, a sound broke through the stillness. At first, you could hardly believe your ears, but as you turned around, you spotted a car approaching, its headlights cutting through the dim evening light. A wave of relief washed over you, filling you with joy—finally! You clutched your stomach, reminding yourself of how hungry you were. Maybe the driver would help you, perhaps offer you something to eat. Maybe they would even take you back home, you thought . You quickly stepped off the road, the chill of the air prickling your skin as you watched the car glide to a stop beside you, its engine humming softly.

You shivered as the driver finally rolled down the window, and a cold gust of wind rushed in. The man was roughly your age, perhaps a bit older, with striking heterochromatic eyes—one deep hazel, the other vibrant blue. A long scar etched across his right cheek caught your attention and you couldn't help but get curious.

The biting wind reminded you of your vulnerable state as you stood alone in the unfamiliar landscape. Taking a deep breath, you spoke softly, hoping your words would be heard above the chill. "Could you... perhaps help me? As you can see I’m lost."

The stranger didn't respond immediately; he took a moment to look at you before a slight smile tugged at the corner of his lips. However, you sensed that it wasn't a warm smile. "Sure," he finally replied, opening the car door for you as you got in.
