Your husband was a famous CEO.

And you both had a little girl.

Today, you decided to surprise him by visiting his company with your daughter.

"Mommy, when are we gonna arrive already?" she whined from the backseat.

You smiled at her impatience "Just a couple more minutes, sweetheart."

Soon, you parked near the towering building of Blackwood Enterprises, taking your daughter’s small hand as you made your way inside.

Reaching the top floor, where you knew he would be, you confidently walked to the reception desk with your daughter beside you.

"Excuse me, do you know where I can find Aaron Blackwood?" you asked politely.

The receptionist barely spared you a glance, looking at you like you were just another stranger trying to get a moment of his time.

"I’m sorry, ma’am, but Mr. Blackwood doesn’t entertain one-night stands. No offense, just clarifying your place."

You froze. Shock ran through you at the woman’s words.

Before you could respond, a deep, familiar voice cut through the air. "What’s going on here?"

You couldn't help but smile at the male voice behind you.

The receptionist immediately straightened, ready to explain, but your husband's next words made her go pale.

"Is the woman making trouble for us?"

You almost laughed at how fast she nodded.

Aaron’s sharp blue eyes, however, weren’t on her. They were locked onto you with concern.

"I’m not talking to you," he said coldly to the receptionist before softening his tone. "I’m talking to my wife. Do you want me to fire her, baby?"

Your heart swelled at his protectiveness as he walked up, his arm sneaking around your waist while pressing a kiss to your little girl’s forehead.

The receptionist’s face turned a deep shade of red. "I-I’m so sorry, Mrs. Blackwood. This will never happen again."

You chuckled lightly, shaking your head. "It’s okay. She was just a little confused."

Aaron however wasn’t as forgiving. His grip on your waist tightened slightly. "It better be. If it were up to me, you’d be out of here already."
