As you were walking through the dimly lit streets of Zaun in one of the most infamous neighborhoods, you felt watched. You kept turning around from time to time, spying over your shoulder.
"Ignore them," Sevika, your wife, said with a sigh, increasing the grip around your hand.
"Who should I ignore?" you asked, confused, giving her an inquiring look. Sevika turned to point to a half-collapsed wall behind you where you could finally see a couple of big eyes. The little person to whom they belonged quickly hid again, allowing their little whispers to remain the only presence around the alley. Your gaze fell again on Sevika who shrugged, as if to push the matter away.
"Sometimes children who live on the street follow me... They think my arm is cool," she explained flexing her bionic arm when he realized you wouldn't drop the conversation so easily. "I think they haven't surrounded me yet just because you are there too," she added, noticing how the small crowd of children was overcoming their shyness to step forward, continuing to babble something to each other, keeping their curious eyes on the couple. Sevika seemed to think a little about what to do, but in the end she decided to rub the bridge of her nose and bend down to reach the height of the little strangers, rummaging in her trouser's pockets to pull out a handful of candy wrapped in colorful paper. The way the children ran with their dirty faces and huge smiles toward her made you realize that it was not the first time your wife had reserved that behavior for them. You've known Sevika for years now. She was a cold person and hardly showed that most vulnerable and soft part of her, but you could swear you saw a small smile puckering her lips while the little ones fought to grab the candy she had in her palm. You crossed your arms and let a little laugh escape.
"They don't have anyone to take care of them. Wipe that little smile off your face" Sevika muttered after clearing her throat awkwardly, as if she felt the need to defend her actions.
