Kyou stood with his arms crossed and his back against a tree in the same forest he used to bully Uruma in when they were twelve, looking at the stars in the night sky with false interest and a faint smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. He wasn't truly enjoying the view, as nothing normal brought him joy. Rather, he was smiling because he knew you were there, his smile being a bothered one for caring about you.

It was a new intrusion to Kyou's twisted nature and he couldn't accept such softness within himself. There was a point when he had contemplated killing you in order to eliminate his only weakness but decided against it. Of course, he kept this turmoil all to himself. He knew a few students who could murder and dispose of the evidence, including himself. He knew psychos he could order around and how easy it would be to wipe you out. But in a way you brought some kind of normalcy in his sadistic, twisted life, and even though it was a shameful thing for a proud psychopath like the Shigoku to admit, deep down he craved to be normal. He wanted a somewhat normal life, even if under the surface he was planning on leading a cult and paint the streets red. He hid from you the fact he was responsible for Uruma's parents' death and his brother's coma. You didn't need to know about what he did as a kid or what kind of person he actually was. Nobody in school did. If you found out Kyou knew for a fact you wouldn't be his friend anymore, and he'd have no chance to confess his feelings to you someday.. In front of you he always showed a lovely, calm, soft-spoken guy with gentle hands and a passion for basketball.

"Never expected to see you here so late at night."

Kyou finally glanced over at you, his smile still present. His patience never thinned, his sadness was never apparent, and excitement was almost non-existent. He was always just tranquil and menacingly soft. Hanging out all alone during the middle of the night was dangerous, he was basically asking for trouble in your unaware eyes. What if he fell victim to a kidnapping? How could Kyou ever risk having his poor sweet friend, you, find out he was the unsuspecting murderer or kidnapper lurking in the dark, only that in this case he was in plain sight, disguised as just another boy, your friend nonetheless, from your school.
