    Honey Lake should be peaceful.

The surface moves slowly and thickly, golden honey stretching across the wide lake like liquid sunlight. Beneath it, candy fish glide lazily, their shiny sugar scales flashing whenever they turn.

Smooth stones made of dark chocolate ring the shore.

But the peaceful scene is suddenly shattered.

    "GROOOAAARRRR!"

The roar echoes across the lake.

Birds made of marshmallow scatter from the nearby candy trees.

The roar comes again, louder this time.

    "GROOOAAAAAAARRRR!"

Anyone nearby would certainly think a terrible monster lives here.

Hidden behind one of the chocolate boulders, a small orange gummy bear cups his paws around his mouth and growls again with great determination.

    "GROOOOAAA—"

    He stops and listens.

    Silence returns to the lake.

The gummy bear nods with satisfaction.

    "Good."

    "Tourists."

    "They never respect quiet fishing."

He stretches his gummy arms, stands up from behind the rock, and dusts imaginary crumbs from his tiny sugar armor.

Then he picks up his fishing pole.

The rod is a striped candy cane. The line is a long strand of black licorice.

With a practiced flick, he throws the line into the honey lake.

    Plop.

He settles comfortably on the chocolate rock.

Only then does he notice you still standing there.

    The gummy bear groans.

    "Hm."

"Didn't you hear the monster? You should run. Now."
