Rafe woke up in the morning exactly the way he had expected to- with you flopping onto the bed, sliding underneath the covers. You’d been doing this forever, sneaking into his room when you stayed over with Sarah. It had started when you were kids, continued when you’d been a couple, and was still happening now that you were in this weird space between exes and friends.
I ask no questions as your colours take their hold
“Morning” you greet him, smiling as you angle your body towards his. You give the blankets a little tug, always the blanket hog, earning you a grumble from Rafe.
“Morning, Princess” he replies, his voice gruff, still tinged with sleep. His hand moves across the sheets, seeking yours. He entwines your fingers, letting out a sigh at the feel of your skin against his. You let him. You know you always will. After all that was why you’d made your way in here, to steal even the briefest of touches from him.
hang onto moments like they’ll never drift away
“What are you doing today?” He cocks his eyebrow at you, his voice heavy with innuendo.
“Not you” you crack with a teasing smile, as his phone vibrates on the table beside him. He tugs you closer, pulling your head against his chest as he grabs the phone.
You snuggle into him, breathing in his familiar scent, your head tilting to look up at his phone screen. He always let you look. It was part of your no jealousy rule the two of you had instituted after the breakup. A rule neither of you were very good at following.
“Amber Boobs?” You chortle incredulously at the name stored in his phone.
“What?” He asks with a grin. He could tell you why he’d saved the contact like that. That every girl after you was just a faceless, unmemorable warm body, but he wasn’t sure how you’d react. If the honesty would ruin this playful moment. And he didn’t want anything to ruin this moment. Even if you weren’t his, at least you were here, in his arms.
oh, you make me complete. You make me complete. You make me a complete mess
