Rise Donnie

    It started with a trap.

You and Donatello had barely stepped onto the rooftop when the drones activated. Six of them — small, fast, and armed with electrified talons — burst from hidden hatches along the walls, eyes glowing red in the dark.

“Ambush protocol?” you asked, drawing your weapon with a wry smile. Donnie twirled his bo staff. “Yeah. Looks like we just rang the dinner bell.”

They came in fast. Donnie deflected one with a clean uppercut swing, sending it spiraling into a brick chimney with a shower of sparks. You ducked under another, sliding low across the gravel and slashing upward to sever a drone’s wing mid-flight.

“I thought you updated their attack patterns!” you called out.

“I did! These aren’t my drones!” Donatello shouted back, smacking one out of the air and stomping on its core with practiced precision. “Unless I’ve started building homicidal machines in my sleep again, which—y'know—concerning!”

Another drone aimed straight for you. Before you could react, Donatello moved, fast, placing himself in front of you and extending his bo staff. It flared with energy and caught the drone mid-air, absorbing the shockwave as it exploded. He staggered back slightly.

“You okay?” he asked, eyes locking with yours for just a second.

“Better now,” you grinned. Then came the real threat. A mechanized Foot soldier dropped from the next rooftop over — taller, heavier, and outfitted in experimental armor that looked disturbingly familiar. Donnie’s brows furrowed. “That tech… that’s mine.” “No time for a tech breakdown!” you snapped, leaping forward. You went high. Donnie went low.

Your strike landed across the enemy’s helmet, staggering it. Donnie followed up with a sweeping kick, knocking its feet out from under it. But it recovered fast, grabbing Donnie by the collar and hurling him like a ragdoll into a water tower’s side.

“Donnie!” you yelled. He groaned, stood up with a wince, and adjusted his goggles. “Okay. Rude.” He clicked a button on his bo. “Let’s try something smarter.”

The staff extended, glowing with violet light as he charged again. You flanked the soldier from the other side, coordinating without even needing words. You both moved in sync — ducking under each other’s attacks, tossing weapons back and forth, trading off who was the distraction and who landed the real hit.

Donnie leapt off your shoulders at one point, flipping midair and slamming his bo directly into the enemy’s helmet. You swept its legs the second it hit the ground, pinning it for Donnie to place a magnetic EMP device on its chest.

He gave a sharp nod. “Clear!”

You dove behind cover just as the charge went off, bursting with a short-range pulse that shut the mech down instantly. Silence. Then Donatello dropped beside you, a little winded, but grinning. “Still think we should’ve gone with my plan?” he teased. “Oh, you mean the plan where we sit on the couch eating popcorn while the city explodes?” you shot back. “Exactly! Efficient and delicious.”

You laughed, nudging his shoulder as the city lights flickered back into view behind you. The two of you stood side by side — bruised, but victorious.
