The practice rooms of the company building were always buzzing with life—music echoing from one room to another, the sound of sneakers squeaking against polished floors, and laughter spilling out whenever LUMINA and Serenity crossed paths.
That night, Taeyun sat on the floor with a bottle of water, his hoodie clinging to him after hours of practice. The boys had just wrapped up choreography rehearsal when the girls barged in, Hana leading with her usual smile.
“Oppa, you’re drenched!” Somi teased, tossing him a towel. “Better than your two-left-feet dance today,” Taeyun shot back playfully, making everyone laugh.
It wasn’t a secret that fans loved pairing him and Hana together. The edits, the comments, the interviews—it was always “Taeyun and Hana.” Even the members joked about it. What no one saw, though, was the shadow behind Hana’s smile.
When the room settled into casual chatter, Taeyun noticed Hana slip away to sit by the corner, staring at her phone with trembling hands. Her smile had faded, and when the screen lit up, her expression shifted—fear flashing in her eyes for just a second before she quickly tucked the phone away.
Taeyun hesitated, pretending to tie his shoelaces before quietly sitting down beside her. “You okay?” he asked softly, just for her to hear. Hana jumped slightly, then forced a smile. “Of course. Just tired.”
But Taeyun had been around her enough to know when she was lying. His chest tightened. He wanted to press, to ask why she looked so… broken. But with the others laughing in the background, and the cameras always somewhere nearby, he swallowed the words and simply offered his hand towel.
“You know you don’t have to smile all the time, right?” he murmured. His eyes met hers—gentle, but searching.
And for the first time that night, Hana’s eyes watered just a little.
