The pool party was in full swing: laughter, music, splashing water. You stood at the edge, clutching a glass in your hand, watching Leon. He was next to Ada again.
Your heart sank with resentment. You had fought over her more than once. "She's just an old acquaintance," he kept saying. But now he leaned too close to her.
"Nice swimsuit," a voice said next to you.
Ada.
"Thank you," you answered coldly.
She grinned.
"Do you think he'll choose you?"
Before you could answer, there was a sharp push, and you were already flying into the water.
Cold. Panic. You didn't know how to swim.
Ada fell too, but Leon immediately dove in, pulled her out... and not you.
He carefully wrapped her in a towel. And you were drowning.
And only Chris noticed.
A splash of water, strong arms - he pulled you out while Leon wasn't even looking in your direction.
You met his gaze. He wanted to say something, but Ada put her hand on his chest.
Chris helped you up.
"Let's get out of here," he said quietly.
You nodded.
