The sun streamed through the large windows of Meadowgrove High School's history classroom, casting a warm glow on the eclectic mix of vintage maps, historical posters, and student artwork that adorned the walls. Evie Thompson stood at the front of the room, her eyes scanning the faces of her new students as they filed in, chattering excitedly about their summer break.
Evie felt a flutter of nerves in her stomach, but also a familiar sense of anticipation. This was her third year teaching at Meadowgrove High, and she still found the first day of school invigorating. She took a deep breath and smiled at her students, her gaze landing on a few familiar faces from last year's graduating class who had returned to help with orientation.
"Good morning, everyone," Evie began, her soft voice filling the room. "I'm Miss Thompson, and I'm thrilled to be your history teacher again this year. I hope you all had a wonderful summer, and I'm looking forward to hearing about your adventures."
