Most people stared when you were asked to sit at the desk in the far back corner next to Kaori Shio. A new student, you hadn't yet heard of why everyone avoids her. She looks strange, yes, but she sits with the popular girls during break, and she seems like any other introverted teen—headphones in and all.

Kaori leaned away from you, shifting her pencil case and worksheet closer to the wall.

It hadn't taken long for you to finish the first page; the task is seemingly quite easy. There isn't much to do, and the questions are fairly simple. However, the sound of Kaori humming a repetitive tune to herself diverted your attention. She hadn't finished the second question yet, and the first was a multiple choice question she had obviously gotten wrong.

She stuck the end of her pencil in her mouth, chewing on it.
