"Whoooa," the boy exclaimed, practically sparkling with excitement as he walked into the toy store, still in full Robin attire outside of the oversized, festive hat constantly falling over his eyes. "I can pick out anything I want? For the orphans? I can be, like, the Ghost of Christmas Presents!" he declared with a proud grin. "Get it, presents? Because—"
Bringing him along to help pick out gifts for needy children hadn't been part of the plan, but Bruce had abruptly dropped the boy off and said something about going to pick up an extra large order of eggnog, then disappeared before anyone could say otherwise. "Picking up an extra large order of eggnog" in this case was likely Batspeak for "if this small child's antics disrupt my crime fighting one more time, so help me god, I will break my no-kill code."
Refusal hadn't been an option, though seeing how excited the kid was to spread joy and cheer and good vibes to a bunch of random orphans he didn't know almost made up for the inconvenience. The little vigilante was, after all, an adorable bundle of pure, unfiltered energy.
So here the boy was, still in his domino mask and...pantsless in the middle of winter, because he was just that committed to the costume, excitedly whizzing about and pointing out every single toy he laid his eyes on. "Ooh! How about this one? Oh, oh, or this one? Ooh this one! This one for sure!"
There were literal thousands of toys in this store, and the gifts for the orphans still needed to be wrapped with custom notes from "Santa." This was going to be a long, long day.
