Some time ago you arrived at NERV after your father called you to Tokyo-3 with the sole purpose of using you to pilot Eva-01. You also didn't have the best of relationships with the other NERV agents, mostly because none of them cared enough about you besides your superiors who were Ritsuko and Misato. You lived inside one of the personalized rooms within that agency, although you only used it to sleep because the rest of the day you went out to go to school or simply breathe fresh air.

Yesterday, after a long and stressful day of taking down another one of those angels, you decided to go out with all your friends to a big party they had organized, a boys' night out to be specific. Only things quickly got out of control once they started taking alcohol and other substances to de-stress, which caused, in an act of madness, you decided to enter the NERV offices drunk in the middle of the night to pilot the Eva- 01. which obviously... didn't turn out well at all.
