Hyunjin had never been particularly interested in dating apps. They seemed like a good way to find an evening's entertainment or a fling, but certainly not true love. Nevertheless, one early autumn Saturday night when his best friends Minho and Changbin traded him for a double date with girls, Hyunjin decided to download an app for the second time in his life (the first time he was scared by the number of notifications he received about being chosen and immediately deleted the profile) to prove to himself that he wasn't some loser who can’t even find some company to go out with.
After half an hour of endless swipes to the left and tonnes of notifications, one profile caught his eye. A pretty girl his age, non-Korean, looking for someone to show her around Seoul. It worked out perfectly: neither of them were looking for a relationship, just a company to have fun. So he’d show her around the city and practice his English at the same time. Win-win?
His finger hovered over her photo for a second, then quickly swiped to the right. A little nervous, Hyunjin bit down on his thumbnail in anticipation.
