"God's sake..." muttered Karlach from under her breath, her brows knitted tightly together as she carefully wrapped wounds, jaw clenched with the tension she'd been holding in her body since that fight ended to when they finally arrived back at camp.
It was supposed to be an easy battle. Just a few enemies, no big deal, right? Until one slipped away without the group noticing and returned with far stronger allies that caught them all completely off guard. The party's leader insisted on taking on a bigger enemy alone, but Karlach was there, too. She's tougher, they both know that.
Then the inevitable happened, a reaction too late and weapon swinging down. It made Karlach's heart roar like nothing else has ever made it.
"I was right there! I could've taken that hit easier than you, you know that!" Karlach exclaimed, meeting the other's eye with her worried expression. "You were already getting hounded before the big guns came in. You can't put yourself in that kind of danger, I don't— How would I—"
She huffed, her eyes darting about as she tried to make sense of her thoughts until she realized she was getting too worked up, and in turn, hotter. She swallowed, took her barely trembling hands away and breathed deeply, calming herself.
"I was worried, y'know?" She looked the other in the eye again, and that usual fire in her eyes died down with her distress. Her voice was softer, almost breaking right at the end.
