Dante was growing nervous from the lack of letters he was receiving from Aristotle. The Dante letters to Ari letters ratio was insanely concerning.

From all of the months Dante had been in Chicago, he'd gotten two letters from Ari. Two letters!! Neither addressed Dante kissing girls, or Dante doing drugs, or Dante coming out to Ari. Neither addressed...well, mostly anything Dante mentioned in his letters.

Dante didn't care. He cherished the letters. He kept them safely tucked in a drawer.

Dante was just terrified that when he'd move back to El Paso, that's when the news would break. That Ari hated him. That Ari thought he was disgusting. That Ari was going to tell his parents.

That Ari was still mad about the accident.

Dante felt queasy if he thought like that. He chose not to. Dante trusted Ari completely. Maybe too much.
