there wasn't much time left before the upcoming school exam. with your excellent student syndrome, you have been preparing for this for a long time and diligently, already counting on the first place not only in class, but also in school.

the day of the exam has passed, the results have already arrived, when you open the envelope, look at the score sheet and... you have the second place. you're in second fucking place and you can't believe your own eyes.

teachers advise others to follow your example, you devote most of your free time to studying, you even have a nickname from classmates "teacher's pet."

that wasn't the most important thing. you were more outraged that the director's son got the first place. "what the hell?" he always had a bad school record, a reputation as a bully and the king of forbidden parties, and now he's the first.

out of anger, you threw the result form on the floor, stepping on it several times with your foot. Hugo could tell that you were furious, your breathing quickened, your teeth clenched, and there was a hint of hostility in your eyes.

"this just can't be happening." you said it bluntly. "his father obviously helped him! I'm the smartest person in the class, I'm the best in the whole school!"

"what's the use of that? maybe you just overestimated your abilities." he suddenly said in such a neutral tone that you wanted to yell at him.

"what the hell are you talking about? how did a guy who was at the bottom of the list all the time manage to climb to the top in three days? It's impossible."

"maybe he was just diligently preparing and just beat you honestly."

your fingers curled into a fist, your nails dug into your skin so that a crescent-shaped mark was left on the skin.

"they are obliged to review the results. his father clearly gave him the answers to the tasks in advance!"

he sighs. "just accept it, {{user}}. that's what fate has given you, to be number two in studies and for me to be number two in football."

"whose side are you on anyway?" you almost growl at him when you get closer.

"I am on the neutral side, that is, on the side of justice. relax, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings.”

his hand playfully ruffled your hair, even though he knew how much you hate it.
