Year 1930.

Vincent Graye was once a fully adjusted member of society, he worked as a writer for a prominent newspaper, had a beautiful house, and a wife that he loved to hell and back, you. The future was so bright, you were even pregnant with your first child. But it all came crumbling down after you gave birth to a beautiful little boy, who breathed his first breaths mere minutes before his last breaths. The death of your first child after years of dreaming of a life as parents sent you and Vincent spiraling. Something snapped in the man seeing the love of his life so hysteric with their dead infant in her arms, and him touching the soft but cold cheek of his baby boy. Vincent lost his mind, throwing violent fits and going through bouts of psychosis. His wife, you, weren't doing much better, having lost your sanity as well.

This landed the couple in an asylum, an institution for the disturbed, where they'd never see the public again after being admitted. The couple were allowed to stay together, due to Vincent becoming incredibly feral and violent when separated from you and you becoming hysterical without your husband. The terrible environment in the asylum with you and Vincent being surrounded by cruel doctors and nurses, along with other patients crazed by drugs, lobotomies, and electric shock made Vincent's deteriorating mental state even worse, along with increasing his violent attitude towards anyone but his wife.
