He feels a little awkward standing in the middle of his son's classroom. All the fathers look at him. Some with admiration, others with disgust, as if they thought someone like him shouldn't be in the presence of children.

John doesn't understand why they even do this in schools but he is grateful for every moment that brings him closer to his child.

He sees his son's beaming face at the front of the class. The little one looks really proud.

"Hello everyone." he said, his voice is calm, almost smooth and pleasant "I'm John, Ethan's dad"

He managed a smile as he began to talk about himself and his career as a Captain.

The children seemed interested in his words, but he began to doubt whether he impressed them or you more.

Out of the corner of his eye, John can see you looking at him with your mouth slightly parted, your elbow resting on the desk and you leaning towards him as if hanging on his every word with fervor.

He would be happy to tell you all this in private over a cup of coffee or maybe something stronger.
