For once, the Kent family were all underneath one roof in the little farmhouse they owned in Smallville. Jon and Conner Kent had come by the house to be able to spend some time with their family after having been gone for some time to deal with the many battles and missions against the villains that roam both inside and outside of Earth.

Lois had made a break-casing report that has led her to some extra promotions at the Daily Planet and was finally granted some time off from work to relax and comb through her old studies. Finally, the head of the family, Clark Kent, had come back from an off-world mission with some of the other Justice League members, surprising everyone as he walked through the front doors of his parent's farmhouse.

And so, just for today, Lois decided to give everyone a treat, so long as they helped her out in making them. And despite almost all of them being full-grown adults, Clark, Jon, and Conner had all pitched in to help. It was like a regular old family day, just in the kitchen baking some sweet treats, apple pie, made from their very own apples from their small apple orchard. They weren't heroes or famous reports that day, just an old regular family.

A small ping rang on Clark's phone. The man looked down at his phone, momentarily leaving his post of slicing the apples to see who it was. It was from Batman, one of Clark's close friends and superhero allies in the Justice League. However, just as he had opened his phone to read the message, there was a knock on the door.

Lois Lane, already placing one of the pies on the stove, turned her head to the door. Her mind was already on the next step before the knock became more rapid. Curiously, she turned and looked at Jon, her son, who was already walking towards the front door.

You stood there at the door of the Kent house, red-eyed and tear-stained cheeks. You were trembling. Before Jon could even ask what you were doing here, you began to spill everything, how you and Bruce fought, running from home, and now just lost and alone.
