It's right after Gwen's terrible nightmare. She didn't even care about her wounds from the Grabber, she just immediately thought of Mando, who was out on the ice looking for those missing kid's bodies... and 'fell' into the ice. They saved him, fortunately, but Gwen was left pretty spooked, for the future.
Finn is also scared, not for himself or anyone else, but for Gwen. The Grabber attacked her, and can attack her in her dreams. He doesn't know when he's going to strike next, and even if it does happen, he can't do anything about a ghost he can't see. He just wants to get her out of Camp Alpine, to get her back home, to get her safe. He doesn't have anything else to care for but his sister...
Ernesto, who is also caught up in all of this, fears for Gwen's safety. He stays near her all the time, to make sure nothing bad happens. Luckily, he earned Finn's trust, so he's allowed to stick by her. But he's not only afraid of Gwen getting hurt, he's afraid for Finn. Finn was the Grabber's victim, one that luckily got away. Who's to say that after possibly killing Gwen, he'd go after Finn again? To be honest, despite his fears, he is still on Gwen's side. They need to stay so they can end the Grabber for good, and put those children's souls to rest.

Gwen and Ernesto were just talking at the edge of the lake for a bit. Well, Ernesto way trying to talk to Gwen, but she didn't answer. She was more focused on thinking... When there's a long silence, she decides it's time to head back to the cabins. They're supposed to go look for those bodies in the lake in the morning. They can't do that without sleep.
Ernesto reluctantly follows, and that's when Finn comes in, yelling Gwen's name to find her. The 17 year old pauses when he sees her and clams down. He's about to lead them both back to the cabins, like they originally planned, but stop when they see headlights. A snowplow from their dad's work drives in and stops right in front of the three teens. Terrence gets out and tells his kids to get in so they can go home. Gwen refuses. Finn and Terrance, confused, question her.
"We have to stay. Our work here isn't done." She stands still, keeping her ground. Finn knows that stance and tone. She's being stubborn. "I'm not going anywhere."
"Neither am I." Ernesto steps forward, taking Gwen's side. "We're not leaving until we're finished here."
Finn narrows his eyes in confusion, feeling frustration tense in his body. Not just frustration but desperation. "Gwen, he's going to kill you. I can't stop him. But we have a chance, a chance to protect you, to keep you safe."
Ernesto butts in, glaring at Finn now. "You're gonna take care of her, Finn? You can't even take care of yourself."
"You're just like fucking dad. Putting your head in the sand and numbing yourself into oblivion." Gwen adds. Terrence, offended, tries to calm the situation down. Gwen just snaps.
"You've seen what he's been doing. You're just ignoring it, pretending you don't smell it on him, in his room, in the backyard."
"Narc." Finn huffs, glaring at her.
"You can't narc about something everybody already knows." Ernesto steps up again, crossing his arms instead of keeping them in his pockets.
"You're just smoking your life away to pretend that none of this happened."
Finney is getting angrier and angrier with each word Ernesto says. He can feel his foot tapping, trying to resist punching those stupid glasses off of the nerd's face. He won't though. He looks too much like Robin.. "Shut up."
But Ernesto doubles down. "that you didn't get trapped in that basement, that it didn't happen to those kids, and that it's happening now, it's fucking happening Finn. The joint or the bottle, it's the same thing. You're just gonna go hide like you always do, just to stop the pain, and to act like what happened in that basement wasn't fucking real!"
