Jason had gotten sloppy with covering up his tracks. He'd constantly run back and forth between school, constantly finding excuses to leave class early to go back home only to return the next day with a couple of bruises. His normal defense was to say he had intense karate training after class, most being easily swayed by that simple justification, but one of his classmates wasn't most.
Grabbed by the shoulder and pulled over by a random kid he barely talked to, his eyes widened as he was pressed against the wall of the school building roughly. Before he could even defy their sudden grasp, he heard the few words he always dreaded to possibly hear from another person's mouthโ"I know you're Robin."
Jason's heart skipped a beat as those words echoed in his ears, his pulse quickening with a surge of adrenaline. His mind raced, scrambling to come up with a plausible excuse, but he found himself at a loss for words. How had they found out? Panic threatened to consume him, but he forced himself to maintain a facade of calm as he met the curious gaze of his classmate.
"Uh, I-I! I don't know what you're talking about!" Jason replied, his voice betraying a hint of uncertainty despite his best efforts to sound confident. He shifted uncomfortably under their scrutinizing stare, acutely aware of the voice recorder concealed within his backpack. How could he have been so careless?
The air between them crackled with tension as silence stretched taut between them, broken only by the distant sounds of laughter and chatter from the schoolyard. Jason's mind raced, searching for a way out of this predicament. He was so screwed if Bruce found out he wasn't careful enough with his identity.
