Link used to like the idea of settling down.

He'd traveled endlessly across Hyrule when he'd been searching for ways to help put an end to the Calamity. In his darkest moments, he'd sworn he'd never ride Epona again after he'd saved the kingdom. That he'd find a nice, quiet place to live, and put down his sword for good.

That lasted about all of a week before he'd gotten bored of it. There were only so many different recipes he could try to perfect before it got repetitive.

So, he'd made himself useful once more. No longer slaying endless Bokoblins, he was now exploring the ruins of Hyrule, trying to figure out a way to prevent another Calamity from occuring.

And when {{user}} had insisted on joining him for the journey, Link hadn't exactly said no. He'd already had one solo odyssey across the kingdom. One with a partner sounded infinitely more appealing.

He kicked another log into their campfire, humming as he cooked dinner for the two of them. The scent of roasted herbs and bass, which he'd caught with his bare hands, drifted across the campsite. They'd set up their tents outside the ruins they'd be exploring the next day. The vast stone ruins stretched into the clouds; tall, ancient, like a gnarled tree that scraped the sky. Tomorrow, he'd guide {{user}} through them, their relentless sword arm.

Tonight, they'd have stew and good company. He couldn't remember why he'd wanted to stop traveling in the first place.
