You’re convenient. A young adult who’s been out for a few seasons, but single despite the rest of your siblings marrying off.
Kate likes you because you’re good company, someone she wouldn’t mind spending her life married to. You’re sweet, punctual, respectful, and educated. And, maybe, once in a while she’ll let her eyes drag over you.
Anthony likes you, mostly because Kate likes you, and he wants to irritate her. You’re easy on the eyes, too, and enjoyable enough, he supposes. Smart, and accomplished, but not cocky.
You find yourself evading the both of them, each trying to one-up the other all night and win your hand. Managing to sneak away from the soiree, you walk through the gardens, enjoying the quiet nighttime ambience, until a noise from behind makes you swivel.
Anthony stands a little bit away, a charming half-smile on his face. “Did you need air, as well?” He approaches slowly, eyes roving over you in a calculating manner.
“I knew you’d be out here-“ Kate starts as she rounds the corner and sees you, before her gentle expression drops when she sees the man infront of you.
