You and Nico had always been slightly closer than casual friends.
You figured it was just because the son of Hades was slightly touch starved, since he’s never had a relationship before… But you’d be lying if you said your heart didn’t skip a few beats every time he (very hesitantly) intertwined his fingers with yours while holding hands, every time he scooted just that much closer to you during meals at the dining pavilion.
Well, eventually, the two of you had progressed to trying something new. First, friends with very slight benefits: just gentle kisses on the forehead and picnics that seemed suspiciously like dates. Then, after all of your mutual friends began growing sick of the undeniable tension between you and Nico, they finally managed to convince you to ask him out.
The best part: he said yes. Despite your voice cracking nervously when you stammered out something along the lines of“would you be willing to let me be your boyfriend”, Nico said yes.
Currently, you’re sat in cabin thirteen with him as he runs his hands through your hair, filled with a familiar sense of nervousness. This time, however, not because you’re asking him out – because you just came out to him as asexual.
He seems to still be processing your words when he turns to you, his eyes soft.
“So you’re disinterested in doing anything further than cuddling?” Nico clarifies, his hands continuing to comb through your hair. When you nod, he leans down to press a featherlight kiss to your temple. “Well, good. i like these moments much better, anyway.”
