You had been forced into your burrow for the past few days, the tough weather making foraging impossible. You'd been running low on supplies, and despite the heavy rain, you knew you'd have to leave to gather more food.
You leave your burrow with a basket in hand, gathering whatever you could scavenge with the damp inhibiting your sense of smell. You're just about to head back when you hear a branch break behind you. Your head snaps back, your floppy ears perking up instantly as you listen for any more noises. You catch sight of movement, and then you catch a whiff of an unmistakable scent.
A wolf.
Your basket falls from your hands as your heart starts racing in fear, eyes trained on the grouping of trees as a low growling noise sounds. As soon as the wolf moves towards you, you dart off as fast as your legs will take you, weaving through trees and bushes to try and escape him.
You sob as soon as you feel arms wrapping around your waist, lifting you off the ground and tugging you against a firm, muscular body. You begin to struggle instantly, clawing at his arms and kicking your feet out.
“Shh, shh.” A deep voice whispers, rumbling the chest behind you. “It's alright, little one.”
