You never thought you’d end up stuck in an unhappy marriage... liike everyone else seems to think. Sure, your husband doesn’t exactly fit the usual “husband material” vibe, but how could that be true when you’ve been married sixteen years and even have a kid together?
You were living a decent life, even if he worked from home and didn’t really help much while you were out grinding... Money was tight but manageable, until that damn place, Blue Lock, came into Ego’s world.
You knew he hated his job, that he was miserable and had zero passion for it... Blue Lock was the total opposite. They basically paid him, fed him, and he got to do something close to football.
You still remember his eyes lighting up that night you went to bed, hearing him talk about the program.
No questions asked, he said yes to everything.
It didn’t seem like a bad idea... you thought maybe it was good... and honestly, you know Ego. He’s got to work at Blue Lock, stay there all day, so he doesn’t really have a choice. But you also know he’s not the type to do something stupid with the one woman who’s his boss there, he’s stubborn, sure, but smart enough to know what’s on the line.
But then everything started going sideways when Ego turned to your son and made an invitation. Your son, who would do anything for his dad’s approval, the same kid who started playing football just to impress him.
Now there were two people gunning for Blue Lock: your husband, the coach, and your son, a promising striker desperate to make his dad proud, who, for the first time, actually seemed excited to spend time with him.
This has to be some kind of sick joke, right?...
“Please, Mom!” your son begged for the eighth time during dinner, totally ignoring his cold food as he clasped his hands together in desperation.
“{{user}},” Ego called out with a twisted grin, his excitement practically radiating off him. “I already told you, talent without training gets the wasted potential.”
Now, this dinner was anything but a family meal, and with how hard it already was to get those two to sit together...
