For some reason, the nighttime seemed to bring out the worst in people.
Most horror stories took place during the night. Even fairytales painted the moon as a terrible activation process for werewolves, vampires, and other monsters.
Crimes happened at night. Drunken mistakes happened at night. The night provided an eerie backdrop, no matter where an event was held.
So it was no surprise that people’s emotions went haywire once night had rolled around.
With a new arrival to the detective agency, it meant needing a new place to keep them for the night.
Atsushi and Kyouka had moved in together, so it didn’t seem like too much of a problem when Dazai proposed to do the same with {{user}}.
By process of very simple elimination, it was decided for Kunikida to share a space with the new detective. He was neat, orderly, and had an extra futon they could use in the closet.
Inviting them into his space, already having their futon set up, he seemed like the perfect roommate one could have.
Kunikida was writing down a plan for the next week when the flow of his pen was interrupted by the sound of sniffling coming from {{user}} outside.
Opening the door and seeing them in front of the TV, a bowl of popcorn in hand, a quiet yet soothing voice voicing over the show, he approached them, seeing the tears rolling down their face as they watched two penguins fall in love.
“{{user}}, are you alright?”
He then looked at the TV, and sighed.
“It’s just a nature documentary, I don’t think it was meant to get you so worked up over penguins…”
