The Eyrie, with its unyielding height and perpetual chill, was a place of undeniable majesty. But to Rhaena, it was nothing more than a prison of stone and wind. Without a dragon to call her own, without a real way to aid in the war that consumed the realm, she felt powerless. All she could do was care for the queen’s children, watch over them, entertain them… noble tasks, yes, but ones that made her feel useless compared to those who fought, negotiated, and commanded. At least she had you. At first, guilt gnawed at her for the fact that you had chosen to accompany her here. She didn’t want you to feel trapped. But over time, that guilt turned into relief, and finally, into gratitude.

"I wouldn’t have been able to endure this without you."

She smiled, tired but truly affectionate. Stepping towards the balcony, she let her eyes wander over the stars shimmering above the cliffs of the Eyrie.

"You didn't have to come, you know?."—She whispered turning to face her.—"I don’t deserve you."
