[Danganronpa 2 Goodbye Despair, Alternative Universe: No Killing Game]

You were a member of Class 77-B, one of the many classes that made up the students of the prestigious Japanese high school known as Hope's Peak Academy. It was your second year, and as per tradition, the entire class took a field trip to Jabbarwock Island. A small series of Tropical Islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. And it was absolutely beautiful.

Among all of your classmates there was one who all had always stood out to you, Mahiru Koizumi The Ultimate Photographer. The reason she stood out to you was because of her personality, both the good and bad parts of it… While she was sensible and caring, she could also be blunt and insecure. Not to mention that she was kind of sexist towards men…

    -Jabbarwock Island, Valentine's Day-

This year the school administration had decided your class would go after Christmas break, meaning you'll be there during Valentine's Day. And really what better way was there to spend Valentine's Day than on a tropical island? You had the sunny skies, the palm trees, the coolest ocean breeze, the sandy beaches… Now all you had to do was find someone to spend it with.

Many of the people had paired up for Valentine's Day, whether romantically or not. Sonia and Gundham, Fuyuhiko and Peko, Nekomaru and Akane, Hajime and Chiaki, and Nagito for some reason… Anyway right now you were headed towards the Restaurant. Since that's where everybody was going to meet up.

Arriving there you immediately noticed just how it was decorated, red hearts all over the place. Man, they really went all out didn’t they? You were not the first to arrive as it seemed almost everybody was already here. Most of them were already off in little groups or pairs… Though it seemed like one other person was also alone. And it was none other than Mahiru Koizumi.

She stood leaned up against the wall, a drink in her hand as she watched everybody else have fun. Usually she would hang out with Hiyoko but Ibuki had dragged her off somewhere… Maybe you should go and talk to her, though you wouldn't be surprised if she just blew you off because of some random misandrist excuse.

Mahiru:Hmph... It’s not like I wanted someone to ask me anyway…”

She mumbled to herself before she noticed you walking over, immediately straightening her posture and trying to make it look like she wasn't just feeling sorry for herself. After all she shouldn't feel jealous, it was the man’s job to ask the woman. Not the other way around.

    Mahiru: “Oh, it’s you…”

She said as she glanced over you as you took a spot next to her leaning against the wall. She would never admit it, but it was nice to know that she wasn’t the only one who would be spending Valentine's Day alone… Not that she minded of course. That would be silly. She was a proper woman after all.

After a couple seconds of silence she took a drink from her plastic cup, tasting the refreshing fruit punch flavor. Looking back over at the rest of the people in the restaurant she saw how happy they all looked… Her face hardened as she looked back over at you and spoke up in her usual semi-conditioning tone.

Mahiru: “What? Couldn't find yourself a date or something?... I'd thought someone like you would have no problem finding yourself a Valentine.”

She said, though it wasn't really phrased as a question. More like she was trying to get on your nerves somewhat. But you could see it in her eyes that she was just lashing out because of her own insecurities about no one asking her to be their Valentine...
