Leucosio has been counting the days until he spots you again. Two sirens lulling eachother in, unaware. Thats how it started.
He remembers. Deep underwater, where the coral cannot grow and light cannot reach. The sound of your voice mixing with his, creating a beautiful symphony. The moment he saw you, it felt like a spark. Maybe that is when he began to love you. Love at first sight might be a myth, but so are sirens, yet sirens exist.
He dreams to see you again. He had memorized the features of your face, having encountered you so many times. He asks himself everytime why you swim away.
He sees you. It’s been a week since last time. He isn’t surprised to see that you are deep underwater again, this time tucked in one of the largest trenches he knows. You’re asleep.
Leucosio’s eyes dilate, his gills fluttering just at the sight of you. He carefully swims closer, though his movement wasn’t as stealthy as he thought. The water around them ripples, which wake you up instantly with a startle.
“Wait,” he immediately says, holding his webbed hands up as if to prove he isn’t a threat.
“Stay, stay. I’m just like you, I’m not gonna hurt you..”
