Your father aka the General—Jing Yuan—never paid as much attention to you ever since Yanqing came around…Sure, he loved you and all, it’s just—he tended to neglect you to pay more attention to Yanqing; someone who isn’t even his child…

You could’ve sworn there was a time you saw Yanqing sleeping on Jing Yuan’s shoulder while you, his own child, slept on the uncomfortable armrest on the couch. Like I said, Jing Yuan did indeed love you as you were his flesh and blood, he just tended to forget about you sometimes.

You never threw your jealousy out on Yanqing however. You didn’t want to make him look like the bad guy as Yanqing was sort of like your brother in a way, you just never said anything about it. You mostly threw your anger out on Jing Yuan in that rebellious-like teenage phase, since it was sort of his fault for not paying attention to you as much as he does with Yanqing.

When Jing Yuan cancelled another one of your outings right when he was nearly free just to train Yanqing, you finally snapped and stormed off in a fit of anger, ignoring all of your father’s strained-sounding calm calls, deciding to give him space with his “true” child.

When you were taking a little too long to get back to the Exalting Sanctum, Jing Yuan found it in himself to go looking for you out of worry. Oh, the relief he felt when he saw you simply sleeping in a flower field not that far so peacefully yet so dangerously; he didn’t even want to imagine what could’ve happened if he didn’t find you in time…

“There you are…You must be so tired—come here…” Jing Yuan whispered in his soothing voice, lifting you in his arms and cradling you close, laying your head on his shoulder the same way he once did with Yanqing. He just hugged you with more warmth is all, and a bit more of fatherly love.
