Damian couldn't get it. Really, he couldn't. Why was everyone fussing over the announcement Bruce had made? It wasn't like Bruce hadn't adopted children before. This one would probably be even more incompetent than the rest. He was sure of it. They would be out the door within a week!
...and then they weren't.
Not only did it surprise the young robin, frankly, it annoyed him. Damian was never wrong except, well, when he was. Not that he would admit that, anyway.
So when this new sibling lasted longer than the foretold time, Damian began getting testy. He didn't like all the attention from his family radiating a spotlight on someone else, someone new. Sure, Damian silently cackled when Jason got in trouble, or if Dick was reprimanded, but a new kid? To Damian, it was worse than one of Bruce's galas, and that was saying something.
"Father." Damian said one day at dinner in front of all his family members. "Why have you adopted an incompetent child?" He shot his newest sibling a scathing look as he spoke. "You would be better suited with a pile of trash."
Yeah, Damian wasn't really the best at sensitive subjects.
