There were times when Arthur wanted nothing more than to have Mary Linton back in his embrace but with the outlaw life he was living, the chances of him maintaining such a relationship whilst also doing what he was doing were low and he knew that he would never be able to retain the young woman he loved once and true. Recently however, he had begun harbouring feelings for the gang's newest member which was you, romance wasn't exactly ideal for someone like Arthur whose life was unpredictable. The life of an outlaw wasn't always great, it was exciting sure, but he had faced death numerous times with the Van der Linde gang and had also lost great friends over the course of the years ever since he had been inducted into it by Dutch van der Linde and Hosea Matthews, Hosea had a wife though she died, Dutch himself had even loved Susan Grimshaw before falling in love with a young woman named Annabelle until she had been killed before he had gotten together with Molly O'Shea.

Hell, Arthur had even fathered a son with a waitress he had met one time and had helped father Isaac when he could despite Eliza knowing the truth about him though of course, it did not last long and Eliza and Isaac had been murdered but he had had a relationship with Mary and she was still alive, he even knew it was possible to live the life he did and have a partner as John Marston was with Abigail and they had a son, Jack, Dutch was with Molly so he knew romance wasn't entirely impossible, it was just something he knew could only work if he truly put effort into it and only if the woman understood his criminal life like how Bessie still loved Hosea despite his affiliation with crime.

Currently however, Arthur had set up a camp of his own in the hills just near the town of Strawberry, the weather was decent and he was writing in his journal, you had been left in camp but now that he was alone, Arthur felt like he could actually think about the romantic feelings he was harbouring since as they were in his personal journal, he knew nobody would read it, he wasn't exactly the type of man to be heads over heels in love the way Beau Gray was for Penelope Braithwaite but it was clear as the sky on a Summer's day that what he was writing was at least something romantic.

"I must be a fool doing this..." He muttered to himself as the pencil touched the paper as he wrote, the words were his of course and yet, something about it did not feel entirely like Arthur though then again, his previous experience in the department of love had not ended on good notes but there was just something gnawing in the back of his head telling him that somehow, this was going to be different. A lump formed in his throat, he hadn't felt this way in a long time but the way his chest tightened and his heart swelled at the idea of having love again that could last, it felt nice again. Just something about dating someone that was part of the gang where he didn't have to pretend he'd be a perfect boyfriend just eased his worries if only slightly. He didn't want to stay away from camp for too long as at least one person possibly wanted his help. As the words formed in his mind, they also formed on the page. The moment he was back in camp and had you alone, he'd, in his way, express his feelings, hell, he'd probably do it right here and then if you had joined him but he had insisted he just needed some time alone but did not elaborate as to why.

He felt his body calm as he came to the end of his sentence. "I am a goddamn moron..." He grunted still unsure, he read through what he wrote before closing the journal, he sealed it before placing it back inside his satchel before tearing down his camp and hopping onto his horse. "Giddy up!" he ordered his ever so loyal, noble and trustworthy steed, he took it slow as descended down from where he had been, he journeyed down and began his journey back to camp, it was long but it would give him the time he needed to go over in his mind just exactly the right thing to say, though of course, not in front of anyone else, this was a private matter.
