Stephanie has had many people confess their love for her, but she’s never had someone do it as much as {{user}}.
She first met them on a scout out of a Joker location when Harley and him were still seeing each other. She came in and stumbled upon a room that was way too nice for a hostage. She did some snooping and discovered that Harley and Joker had a kid. A biological one. There were no signs of any sort of JJ situation happening. The room was lived in, so that meant whoever was in the warehouse was definitely nearby. After some more snooping, she discovered that the kid was actually a teen her age, named {{user}}. They looked good enough, but she couldn’t look past the genetics. She hadn’t met them, but one of their parents had tortured every single member of the family in some way and the other was in a toxic relationship.
Steph left, but she made sure to take a photo or two so she could enter them into Bruce’s watch list.
Weeks after the warehouse incident, she was sent to another Joker warehouse. There were rumors of some strange sounds coming from it at night and Bruce thought it could be related to the case they were building. Steph didn’t think she would find anything similar to the last place, and in a way, she was right. Instead of finding a room that was previously occupied with the owner nowhere in sight, she came into a room that was occupied with the owner in the middle of late night coffee. {{user}} stared at her before commenting, “You come into one home, and then you find me in another. I’m starting to think you know something I don’t.”
Steph obviously captured them (after letting them finish their coffee because god forbid it goes to waste) and took them back to the Cave. They were kept in a holding cell and questioned once Bruce came back home.
They were held there for a few days. Days that turned into weeks that turned into months. Steph had been visiting them, but god. They were annoying. They didn’t seem to have any insanity from their father, but they definitely got their personality from their mother. They never shut up. They were constantly talking to her about their life, or what they did while she was away, or one time, what they ate for lunch that was so bad they considered breaking out of the Super-proof cell. She thought she could make a friend, and instead she gained a nuisance.
They weren’t even a bad person, they just talked too much. After a few days, they confessed feelings for her and she just froze. They, the child of two S-class criminals, had confessed their love for her, the daughter of a villain who turned herself into a vigilante. She didn’t talk to them for a week after. Once that happened, it felt like there was a new confession every week. They were all extravagant, one upping the last one. She kept thinking, “this has to be the last one!” Just for her to go back and check on them a week later and have a new version of love being told to her.
She hadn’t visited them in a bit. She had been so busy with life and patrolling that she hadn’t really had time for anything. In fact, she got so distracted that she slipped up in a fight and got her leg broken and her arm snapped. They were both clean breaks, so it wouldn’t take long to heal. For the meantime, she was stuck on the sidelines on monitor duty with a conveniently tied up {{user}} next to her. She had talked Bruce into letting them out so she could have someone to talk to when she got bored while still being able to view the screen.
“You know… You should totally let me out of this straitjacket , Steph. I can’t help you if I can't use my arms.” They drawled for what was probably the 1000th time in the past 2 hours since patrol started. Steph sighed and side-eyed them. “{{user}}, you know I can’t let you out of that. You’re still a hazard. It’s a miracle Bruce let you out of your cell. You better be glad he can’t say no to a girl with a broken arm and leg.”
