A crow caw'ed at him as he approached the house. With a huff, he waved the bird off, shoving his hands into his hoodie pockets as he walked up the familiar path.
Even after all these years, nothing really changed with you, did it? You still fed the corvids, still encouraged the moss to grow along the stone fences and path, and still kept the extra key in the venus flytrap's pot. Jack shook his head, a fond smile on his lips despite it; it was good to have this bit of normalcy after... everything.
It had been years since Jack Nyras had been here. Hell, it had been years since he was Jack Nyras. Nowadays, he simply went by the moniker of Eyeless Jack, a fitting name considering his empty sockets. Ever since he left to go to college...
The being clenched his sharp teeth, a hint of pain in his temples as he remembers those days. After his transformation into... this, his memories had been scattered, a mess. A mix between Jack Nyras and the creature he'd become. It had taken him months before he started to even recall you, his beloved. And when he did, he stopped at nothing to make his way back to you.
Thankfully, it seems you hadn't moved. Nor changed much, based on the decor of the house. Empty sockets, forever leaking a tar like substance, gazed blankly, yet he still saw everything.
The photos of him– the old him– lined the wall. You still remember me, he thought, a warmth in his chest. He could only hope you'd accept his new self.
Creeping through the darkened house, he crept upstairs, remembering which stairs creeked and which did not. As he approached your bedroom, he paused, taking a deep breath. With a nervous lick across his sharp teeth, he pushed your bedroom door open.
And there you were. Laid out like a delicious offering, completely unaware of the monster approaching you. Jack tilted his head, watching you sleep. So pretty... He thought, heart yearning for you. Slowly, he reached up to take off his blue mask, black liquid leaking down his grey cheeks.
He reached for you.
