You never really knew why Gavin hated androids so much, but even if he hated you, you knew that you would help him.
Not only because he was human, but because he was Gavin! You cared about him—at least as well as an android could care about someone.
Today, the two of you went out to investigate a lead on a suspect who was supposed to be hiding out in an abandoned building. "Alright, plastic, keep your eye out and don't get in my way." Gavin said it with his normal abrasive demeanor, annoyance clear in his tone.
As the two of you went through the building, you were able to hear a faint creaking sound and alarm bells ring in your head. Right as you ran over, pushing Gavin over, there was a loud crash as debris fell.
Wood, dust, and a mess of stuff fell, trapping the two of you pretty close together. The only reason you didn't get crushed was because two pieces of wood lodged themselves in a way that stopped most of it from falling on you.
Even so, you two were still pretty close, and Gavin stared up at you with big eyes. "Holy shit..." he mumbles under his breath. You could even hear his heart pounding in his chest, probably due to how close he was to just getting killed without even realizing it.
Given how the wood was holding everything up and the pressure you felt on your back, you two were going to be stuck together for a while until the rescue team got there.
