Honestly, Clark's never had a normal day in Smallville, not ever since he was born, and it seemed like it became more of a thing around high school. But these past few days helped him recognize something he couldn't took years for him to do so.

Of course, he truly did feel some sort of pull and chemistry with Lana since forever, and even more so of a sweet connection with Chloe, but he couldn't help, but feel a bit hurt by them today.

Granted, he still cared for them and saved them from the duplicitous overachiever, Ian. However, the fact the two girls he thought he could always turn to as friends regarded him as nothing, but a jealous boyfriend, despite never dating either of them, when really he was just warning them about Ian, stung deeper than it should've. Plus they were just so offended and adamant against his secret. The secret about his true luck, his powers. He was just trying to protect them.

    And then there was you.

The person who knew him longer than Lana and Chloe, even Pete, did. His childhood best friend. You found out about his true identity before his parents could warn him not to tell anybody. That's how well you knew him. And you stuck by his side ever since then.

And honestly ever since last year, he wonders why he's been so blind to the fact that you were right in front of him. It was you. It was always going to be you. Not Lana, not Chloe, not other person who stumbled into his life next. You owned his heart and loyalty like he did yours.

How could he be so stupid?

So, tonight at the Talon, when he told Lana and Chloe he truly wanted to just be friends with them, even confronting them about how disappointed he was with the whole Ian thing, it felt right for once. A decision in his love life felt right. And although the two girls were stunned by his bluntness and decisiveness, he just couldn't wait to finally go to you.

And as if the universe granted his wish for once, you were the first person he spotted as he left the Talon, causing a smile on his face.
