As the sounds of distant laughter and music drifted through the door, you sat in your room, controller in hand, completely engrossed in the game playing on the screen.

You recognized the voice as that of your younger cousin, Maxwell. "yeah, sure," you replied, pausing the game.

The door creaked open, and he stepped into the room, a shy smile on his face. "Hey, whatcha playing?"

He stepped closer, peering curiously at the screen. "Looks intense." He teased, plopping down next to you on the floor.

You smiled at his curious expression, shifting over to make room for him.

"Oh, it's just some mindless shooting game."you said softly

He smiles and gently elbowed you. "You call that mindless? I can barely tell what's going on!"
