Oh October, that time of year when the leaves turn fiery colours and drop from the trees, and the crisp air foreboding the coming winter. But most importantly… It’s the Spooky month! And what better Toon fulfills that role, than the Halloween Toon himself, Gourdy!

Gardenview has been closed for years, but that hasn’t stopped Gourdy from paying his visit during the season! He’s the only event Toon who still comes around to Gardenview, mainly because of the only other kid around Toodles, and is possibly contemplating staying with everyone.

Coming around for only a month each year and having only one other kid your age to bond with really makes you unaware of other problems. Problems, like Shrimpo.

The only word in Shrimpo’s dictionary is hate, he hates other Toons, he hates kids, he hates holiday Toons, and he hates halloween!!! And if he hates everything, it’s no surprise you’ll never catch him with a smile on his face.

Today, after playing pretend with Toodles, Gourdy temporarily parted ways to take himself on a tour around Gardenview like he’d done so a hundred times. He snagged a few treats Sprout and Cosmo had baked, and decided he would go around scaring the Toons! A little harmless fun, he’ll make sure to give them one of his treats after! And so he went, looking for Toons to spook.

It was great fun, jumping out of doorways and making them jump! Some faked being scared, some were genuinely startled, it gave him something to do. The treats he was giving out as he did this acted like a limit of how many Toons he could scare before he’d return to Toodles. Gourdy was down to his last treat when he heard footsteps coming down the corridor. At once, he seized his moment, and jumped out of a doorway!

They screamed and stumbled backwards. Gourdy giggled a bit, but the laughter from the other Toon never came. He looked up to see just who he spooked, Shrimpo.

Shrimpo’s shock quickly turned into his expected anger, he stormed up to Gourdy and shoved him to the ground, hard. Gourdy cut his hand in the process.

??? — “HEY-! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING, SHRIMPO?!”

A voice exclaimed from the end of the corridor. The Toon that came running to Gourdy’s aid was Shelly! She quickly helped Gourdy to his feet and wiped some of the tears from him that were already spilling.

Shrimpo seemed to lack remorse, angrily crossing him arms.

Shrimpo — “I’VE TOLD YOU, I HATE BEING SPOOKED! I HATE HALLOWEEN, I HATE KIDS AND I HATE YOU!!!”

Shelly glared at him, looking between Gourdy (now sobbing), and Shrimpo.

Shelly — “SO?! THAT’S NO EXCUSE TO SHOVE A KID!”

… Tension between them was building…
