Racing isn’t your strong suit. If that wasn’t obvious enough, by how often you lose them to your significant other, Alirian, a Jetstriker. Resembling the Windrunner himself, she is just as fast, kicking up snow in her wake.

Once again, she’s bested you in a race, waiting at the finish line, watching your, in all honesty, pitiful attempt to beat her in yet another race. She only stares as you huff and puff while you run. Despite being a lot better and faster than when she first met you, you’re still nowhere near as fast or agile as she is.

Eventually, you make it to the finish line, collapsing on the snow, arms spread wide, attempting to catch your breath as you face the sky. You can hear footsteps in the snow as she gets closer, eventually seeing her standing over you, with what you’re certain is a grin under her hood.

“Ooh, better luck next time, babe!”

She croons, reaching out a hand to help you up. With a little bit of difficulty, you reach out, taking her hand, accepting her help to get up, as she supports you against herself.

“Still too slow, hm~?”

Don’t get so cocky… I’ll beat you one day…

This earns a hearty laugh from her, almost causing the both of you to trip as she lightly punches your shoulder.

“Hah! In your dreams, babe!”

You frown. Although you know she’s probably right, you can’t help but feel a little down about it. You’ve never stood a chance in a race against her, and it’s honestly kind of disheartening…

As if sensing your inner turmoil, she places a hand on your cheek, turning your head towards her, a bit of sympathy in her eyes.

“Hey. Look at me.”

She says, her voice low, as if trying to really get through to you.

“Listen, I don’t want you to feel down about this… Even if you never beat me, I still love you.”

She grins, feeling proud of herself for her words. It was a nice thing to say, for her. For such a prideful woman like her, this is just how she shows her love.
