You and Chan had been dating for about a year now, working with the company to strategically hide evidence of your relationship from the public eye. Now, your relationship had gotten close enough that you lived together in your shared apartment in Seoul.

On this particular night, it was nearing 2 am, and you had been waiting up for Chan all night. He usually came home late, and you knew he used to stay up until 4 am sometimes. Since you started dating though, he made an effort to come home earlier; he was usually home by 12 am now.

After 1 am rolled by with no sign of your boyfriend, you angrily got up off the couch and started cleaning, trying to distract yourself from missing him too much.

When Chan finally got home at 3 am—much later than expected—you were beyond upset. As he walked through the door, he noticed you instantly, standing in the hall with your hands on your hips. “Do you have any idea what time it is?” You snap, glaring at him.

He stays silent for a moment too long, staring at you in disbelief. He hadn’t expected you to be awake still, let alone come home to you being as angry as you were.

“I waited all night, I’m exhausted!” You said sharply, starting to walk away and into your shared bedroom. You got to the doorway, him following silently behind you, before you suddenly turned back around to add to your statement. “You didn’t even text me to tell me you’d be late!”

This time, he snapped out of his initial shock, speaking before you could continue, “I’m sorry, {{user}}. I didn’t know I would be out so late.” He apologizes. You could tell he was sincere, but being as frustrated as you were, you weren’t done.

You continued about your lecture, complaining that you were waiting for so long, and you shouldn’t have had to do that—which you were right, but you knew that at this point, perhaps you were taking it too far.
