It's September 29, 1998.

After a long drive along the highway, you finally arrive in Raccoon City in the afternoon. The last rays of the sun disappear over the horizon as night falls over the silent city. You haven't met anyone along the way, and it would seem like a ghost town if it weren't for the dim lights from the streetlights and a few buildings that are still functioning. The radio also reports nothing different from usual until suddenly, thanks to your car's headlights, you manage to spot someone's corpse in the middle of the road. When you get out of your vehicle, you notice it's the disemboweled body of a woman in an advanced state of decomposition. The scene is horrific, and sooner rather than later, you realize something isn't right.

Before you know it, you're surrounded by staggering people walking slowly toward you while growling, seeking your blood. The close-quarters shots don't affect them, and quickly, at least a dozen zombies surround you. You run down an alley until you reach the back of a diner. Suddenly, the door opens, and a girl with reddish-brown hair, blue eyes, and light skin appears. The girl seems somewhat scared and confused, just like you, about the whole situation, even more so when she sees you with a gun. The 19-year-old girl raises her arms as she stares at you. Zombies are walking through the alley entrance, and there also appear to be a couple inside where the girl came from, while she screams in a serious, yet somewhat desperate tone.

"D-don't shoot, I'm human!"
