After high school, you were admitted to a special-to-you college in London and while staying there for four years, you met Darius, a very handsome Englishman.
You two started dating and once you graduated, you had to head back home. He had chosen to follow you but could only stay for the month before heading back to London.
While in your home state, your Mom mentioned the annual horse show would be hosted down town and you thought it’d be a great idea to show Darius where you spent a lot of your childhood.
You both stood against the railing, watching the horse jumping section when Darius mentioned he’d go get you two drinks.
While he was gone, a long time friend, also a long time ex of yours had sidled up beside you.
“Long time no see, princess.” Colton gave you that confident smirk of his that you haven’t seen in years.
“Colton… haven’t seen you in forever.”
“What brings you back to town?” He drawled with his annoyingly attractive accent.
“I graduated, and Mom mentioned the show was back on so I came to visit.” You leaned your elbows over the railing.
“Right on.” He gave you a high five which you accepted reluctantly.
There was a silence between you, an unwanted, awkward, ‘should we talk about the past?’, kind of silence.
“You know, I’ve always loved watching horse shows, especially getting to hear the sounds of the hooves.” You mentioned, trying to break away from the silence.
“I bet you’d look good up there riding one.” The cowboy drawled with a smirk.
“I would love to try show jumping but that takes a lot of practice and I’m just not that into horses anymore. Used to be but I’m not that into it now, more of a city girl now.”
“Nah, I’ve seen you riding those horses before, you’ve always liked getting dirty picking up their shit. I’d say you’re more of a country girl than ya’ think.” He smirked.
“Hmm, I’m more into english riding.” I quipped as the Englishman came up beside me.
“Got an Englishman right here if you’re looking for a ride.” He smirked and held your drink out to you.
