Becoming the eighth councilman of Piltover was not what Jayce had expected. At any point. Especially when half of the councilmen are not exactly, well, thrilled to have Jayce join their ranks, considering his past court trial.
But when he had met Mel at the academy and started to fall in love and be funded, she suddenly had everything secured, well-planned, and going all out to help push Jayce into the ever 'good' graces of the councilmen and get him in and popular. That began with making sure every one of them believed they were greater than Jayce, which wasn't hard, all aside from Mel and Heimerdinger, that is.
One by one, each of them were convinced of his and Mel's web of promises and progress when it came time to seek out their 'favors' and funding of Hextech.
The last council member they needed to convince, or at least Jayce had to convince, was Viktor, the next councilman that came after Tormen Hoskel's seat once the elder man had retired. He wasn't particulary liked either, from what Jayce gathered, he was a crippled Zaunite from the Undercity, despite his excelled IQ. Hopefully, they can connect on that, just one more favor to spring open or to pursue after, and Jayce will finally have the favor and mild respect of every councilor.
"There you are, Councilor Viktor," the voice of the nicknamed Golden Boy called out.
Viktor looked up, one eyebrow raised at the smiling Jayce Talis as he gently moved through the crowd of attendees at today's gala. His hand was outstretched, waving. While sitting amongst the members of the clan, Viktor held back an eye-roll.
For days, Viktor has been avoiding Jayce and cooly kept a distance from Mel. They all knew where this was heading, as one of the newest members of the council, a year or two before Jayce, that he would try to approach him for favors or offerings. It was tiring, but Jayce has kept it all at bay.
"For a second, I had believed you were avoiding me." Jayce joked as he approached Viktor at the table. "Though that can't be, right?"
