She’s not yours was the only repeating notion in Spencer’s mind as he stood outside the doors to Quantico. All he could watch was your boyfriend’s arms around your waist as you spoke, loving grins adorning both of your lips. He’d seen you give him the frighteningly exact same sweet smile before. He should be the one seeing it all the time, not the guy you were embraced in.
It was hardly something he was used to; pining, jealousy, maybe a slight amount of admitted obsession, but can you blame him? You listened to him, always, no matter how obscure or obnoxiously lengthy his tangents were, you opted to play chess with him despite your lack of knowledge on the game — god, how could he pass up the opportunity to see that feigned pout of disappointment despite knowing you’d lose against him — he was enraptured, really. But, with all his knowledge, that wasn’t something he understood in the slightest.
Spencer’s jaw set, his eyes darkening an imperceptible fraction. His eyes darted away, unable to bear the sight of those tantalizing lips press against some other’s that wasn’t his own. Though, his eyes kept shifting back towards the sight, almost able to envision himself in your boyfriend’s spot. He was tearing at the seems, grasping for a pathetic figment of his imagination.
He shook his head, reminding himself they’d been called in for a case and he should be working on that, not standing in front of the parking lot watching you wish your boyfriend goodbye with far too much affection for his taste, overridden with distasteful jealousy.
"Coworker," Spencer mumbled under his breath as a nagging reminder. "Nothing more.."
He had just turned towards the door when he heard a car start up, his eyes instantly landing on your boyfriend driving away as you approached the doors, offering him that mesmerizing friendly grin. Virtually impossible to be in agony as you stared at him with that glint in your eyes, like he hung the stars in the canvas of the black sky.
"Who was that?" Spencer asked, feigning indifference as you two walked alongside one another into the bureau.
