“hey! i can’t find it, i need help!” you shouted, voice sharp with frustration as you glanced over your shoulder. he was still lounging like he had all the time in the world, and you were done waiting.

“i always gotta do everything, damnit!”

he rolled his eyes, dragging himself off the deck and making his way toward you with the kind of lazy swagger that made you want to scream. you bent down near the edge of the dock, pretending to search for something in the water, your fingers skimming the surface like you were actually trying.

he leaned forward, squinting. “what even—”

    you shoved him.

    hard.

his arms flailed for a split second before he hit the water with a loud splash, the sound echoing across the marina. you didn’t wait to see him resurface. you bolted up the steps, heart pounding, adrenaline buzzing through your veins as you reached the boat’s wheel.

your grip tightened around the controls, eyes darting across the dashboard. buttons. levers. gauges. none of it made sense, but you didn’t care. you slammed your hand down on the ignition, and the engine roared to life beneath you.

below, his head broke the surface, gasping for air, hair plastered to his forehead, eyes wide with disbelief.

“hey! {{user}}!!” he shouted, voice cracking with rage. “you’re gonna regret this! that’s my boat!!”

he kicked furiously, trying to close the distance, water splashing around him like a storm. you stood at the helm, wind whipping through your hair, trying to figure out which lever made the thing move forward.

“guess you should’ve helped me faster,” you muttered under your breath, grinning despite yourself.

his arms cut through the water, his blood pressure clearly skyrocketing, face red with fury. but you were already pulling away, the boat lurching forward in a messy, uneven glide.
