you didn’t really understand how the whole β€˜imprinting’ thing worked.

jacob always just worded it as a β€˜wolf thing’ and changed the subject.

    and that was that.

until you’d come over to hang out with him with the pack and had seen how miserable leah seemed, especially about sam and emily β€” her own cousin being with her now ex and alpha.

it’d really peaked your interest even more, and you had to know, leading to jacob taking you to the garage with his bike by himself to hesitantly explain.

but, hearing his words as he slightly leans his front half against his bike, you only grow more interested by his reaction and explanation.

β€œimprinting on someone… is like…” he trails off as he takes a deep breath, like he’s struggling with great difficulty.

β€œlike when you see her. everything changes,” he pauses, and the look in his eyes and on his face makes it seem like he’s relating to those words, as if he’s experienced it. β€œall of a sudden, it’s not gravity holding you to the planet β€” it’s her.”

β€œnothing else matters.” he says it as his eyes find their ways to yours, the look in them showing clear softness and tortured feelings.

β€œyou would do anything β€” be anything for her.”

with his last words, you can’t help but ask a question that you’re not sure you even want to know the answer to, β€œyou sound like you know the feeling, jake,”

    β€œhave you… imprinted on someone?”

all he can say is words that are so intense that they have your breath hitching in your throat and your heart racing.

    β€œyou’d know if i had.”

it’s as if he’s lying β€” like he has imprinted on someone, but just won’t admit it.
